FILL A NEED- FILL A BACKPACK

Michelle was referred to OpenDoor Women's Recovery Alliance while in treatment for substance use disorder. She had lost everything and came to us with nothing but her brokenness. An unbearable reality of countless women.

Being a community of compassionate people, we decided that we wanted Michelle to have some things to call her own and help to restore her dignity that she had been stipped of.. That is why FILL A NEED- FILL A BACKPACK was created.

After careful consideration, it was decided to provide a blanket and pillow, women's essentials, a bus pass, a gift card, a travel cup, warm socks, a gratitude adult coloring book and more.

This small gesture was a way to show Michelle she isn't alone and there are people who care about her. It was a simple gift, but for Michelle, it was a lifeline of hope and support as she began her journey of rebuilding her life.
